Creating Lasting Change in Vulnerable Communities

At Kigotho's Legacy Foundation, we believe every child deserves safety, dignity, and opportunity. Through collaborative, community-led initiatives, we're addressing critical needs in rural Kenya.

1. Mercy Children's Home Support (Ndabibi, Naivasha)

The Challenge

Mercy Children's Home provides shelter to 30 vulnerable children, but for years, the facility struggled with:

  • A leaking roof that left children wet and cold during rains
  • Insufficient bedding, with multiple children sharing torn mattresses
  • No reliable access to clean water

Our Response

Phase 1 (Completed December 2023):
  • Roof repairs to ensure dry, safe sleeping conditions
  • New mattresses and bedding for all children
  • Installation of handwashing stations to improve hygiene
Phase 2 (Ongoing): Water Access

We're working to end the home's water crisis through:

  • Short-term solution: 10,000-liter rainwater harvesting system
  • Long-term vision: A borehole for sustainable water access

Impact

  • Children now sleep comfortably through rainy seasons
  • Cases of waterborne illnesses reduced significantly

2. Rumuruti Family Support Programme

The Challenge

In Rumuruti's underserved households:

  • Children, especially teen mothers and orphans, walk long distances for unsafe water
  • Many families cannot afford basic school supplies or nutritious meals

Our Response

  • Education Support: Covering school fees and supplies for vulnerable children
  • Basic Needs Provision: Monthly food packs and hygiene kits
  • Community Water Points: Planning sustainable water access solutions

Impact

  • 17 children enrolled in school this year
  • 42 families receiving consistent nutritional support
